1-4-01: I ordered an oil filter and gasket, an elbow fitting for the
rocker arm oil line, and a couple of new cylinder compression relief valves from
Todd at Heritage Equipment. I will start working on the tractor in late
February or early March, depending on weather. It is really cold now, down
below zero at nights, and it has snowed about a foot in the last few days.
It is supposed to snow a foot in the next few days.
1-12-01: It did. We got 18 inches of new snow on top of the foot
we already had last night.

2-17-01: Still too cold to work on the tractor, and I am getting itchy
fingers, and want to get back out there. A warm garage or shop sure would
be the way to go.
March, 2001
3-3-01: Pat came over and we got to work on the B. We changed
the compression relief valves, put the new fitting in the tappet oil line,
changed the gasket on the fuel strainer glass bowl, drained the engine oil,
changed the oil filter, and refilled the crankcase with fresh 30 weight oil.
I added a half gallon of gas, filled the radiator, and cranked the engine
back to life. After it started, I checked the oil pressure, which was
above the 'M' on the gage, we let the engine warm up some, then shut it off.
& I checked the oil level by adding a half quart with the test valve
open, then a bit more, then almost the full quart, until it started leaking out
of the valve. & It takes almost 8 quarts to fill the crankcase
including what the filter soaks up. We drained the water again, as it is
still at or below freezing at night, and called it a day. What a good
feeling to hear the old two-cylinder engine running again.
3-31-01: Pat and I picked the trailer up from storage today and placed
it in the yard. We then went to Home Depot to get some supplies.
We picked up some plywood and hardware to make a box to transport the
canopy stove, umbrella and other tractor show supplies. We cut the plywood
into the six pieces to make the box. I also mounted the 2001 license plate
on the trailer and installed a license plate light. Started sprinkling,
and a storm is on the way tonight, so I will finish the box tomorrow.

4-1-01: Pat came over and we took the trailer back to storage.
We started assembling the transport box, but it was one small detail after
another that just didn't work out quite right. I wanted to use my belt
sander to even the plywood edges, but the sander didn't run, so I took it open
to see if it was a bad switch. Nope, and the brushes are loose also.
Too much trouble to fix it now, and there are other things to do. We
started putting the bottom of the box together, screwing 2 X 2's to the bottom
with drywall screws. I got one side on just right, but noticed that the
end piece doesn't fit too well on the other side, so we took the second side off
and aligned it a little closer. We got both ends on and the box is as done
as we can get it until I get a new belt sander. Enough for one day.
4-14-01: I continued working on the box, and got it almost all
done. Picked up a quart of JD yellow paint at the Ace hardware
store. I started the tractor up and brought it out in the yard to wash and
clean it up a bit. It started easy and ran real good.
4-21-01: Box is almost done. I need to get a few more pieces of
metal and bolt the tongue on. I started the tractor up and drove it out
into the yard where I turned it around so it would give me a little more room to
work in the garage.
