August, 2001

8-11-01:  We were able to get out to a few tractor shows in August, starting with the Sycamore Steam Show.  This is a big show with lots of steam powered equipment, as well as a couple of hundred gas and diesel tractors.

September, 2001

9-2-01:  We took the tractor to Pontiac, Illinois for the Central States Threshermen's Reunion.  I drained the water from the tractor and put it away for the winter after we got home, as we will not take it to any more shows this year.

9-11-01: Wow! Our prayers are with the families who lost their loved ones in the tragedy in New York.  I am sure they will find who is responsible, and punish them for this horrendous disaster.

9-14-01: We went down to Lanesville, Indiana for the Lanesville Heritage Weekend on the 14th.

October, 2001

10-1-01:  We went over to the Northern Indiana Historical Power Association show at Sunset Park in Valparaiso, Indiana on the 29th.  After the show we decided to go over to Elkhart, Indiana where we stopped at International R. V. World to look at recreational vehicles.  We are thinking about buying a 5th wheel trailer so that we will be able to stay at the Will County show all week, avoiding the 35 mile drive every day.  We found one that we like, but first we have to find a truck to pull it.  It is a 2001 Heron model 527RBS(H) , which is made by R-Vision.

We located a 1999 Ford F250 Super Duty Super Cab Power Stroke Diesel powered pickup that fits the budget and is equipped with the options that suit us.  It is located in Olathe, Kansas, about 175 miles southwest down I-55 and 250 miles west on I-40.  We drove over to Olathe Friday the 26th, and bought it on the 27th, returning home Sunday the 28th.

November, 2001

11-1-01:  We Put a Valley combination gooseneck/5th wheel hitch in the bed, along with a tool box.  We also installed running boards.

11-06-01:  We went over to International R. V. World in Elkhart, Indiana and bought the 5th wheel travel Trailer.  We will leave it at the dealer for the winter, and pick it up in Spring, after the snow is gone.

December, 2001

12-1-01:  We are having a mild winter, and there is only a little snow on the ground for Christmas.

12-25-01:  Merry Christmas, everyone!

January, 2002

1-1-02:  Happy New Year.  We are waiting for spring, and it is so mild this winter, that it feels like it is here already, but more snow will soon fall, and you can take that to the bank.

February, 2002

2-1-02:  We went to the R. V. show at Rosemont after work, looking for supplies for the travel trailer.  We didn't find anything that suited us, so we didn't stay long.

2-2-02: The North Eastern Illinois Two Cylinder Club has its annual Pot-Luck Dinner and Auction today, so we spent most of the day in Bartlett, Illinois.  I was able to get several years worth of Two Cylinder Magazine for about $2 a year.  Carolyn got a cookie jar that looks like a John Deere New Generation 3020 with a cab on it, along with several other interesting items.
